You just can't beat an original! The first jerseys worn by the expansion San Diego Padres in 1969 were simple and dull, with just "PADRES" written across the chest for home games and "SAN DIEGO" for road games. The team, however, was anything but dull, creating new ways to lose on a daily basis en route to a 52-110 record, tied with the other 1969 expansion team, the Montreal Expos, for the worst record in baseball. Presented in a stunning example of a game-used San Diego Padres jersey from that inaugural 1969 season. This tan cotton flannel has a seven-button front and a uniquely fonted "PADRES" in brown felt on gold tackle twill, while the #3 on the verso appears in the same styling. The jersey features a Wilson size 42 label in the lower left front tail above a brown chain link "1969" identifier. The left sleeve has the MLB "100th Anniversary" patch. Some game use is evident, with some small stains and two small rips on the reverse fabric breaching an otherwise flawless cloth. LOA from Mile High Card Co.
