You know how certain people were born to do what they actually did for living? It seemed that when that person was working in that job, everyone knew that marriage was a match made in heaven. Jack Lambert meet the middle linebacker position. Lambert, with his intense style and a smile only a Jack o' Lanter could love, was born to play middle linebacker, similar to how Dick Butkus, Mike Singletary and Sam Huff were, too. While not overly big (6'4", 220 lbs) compared to today's linebackers, Lambert made up for the size issue with quickness and intense meanness. In addition, his ferocious tackling sometimes separated helmet from ball carrier. Lambert was a 9 time Pro Bowler, 6 time All-Pro and was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1976. He moved in to the starting lineup his rookie season, and it is no coincidence that the year Lambert was drafted was the beginning of the Pittsburgh Steelers run of four Super Bowl titles in six seasons. This Home Black Game Used Durene jersey was worn by Lambert during the 1983 season, his last full year in the NFL. Lambert's number "58" is sewn in white tackle twill upon the front and both shoulders. Also, on the front is the year tag "83", but the "Medalist" manufacturers tag has been removed from the front tail, however, the outline of the tag can still be seen. On the reverse is also the number "58" with "LAMBERT" in yellow tackle twill stitched upon a black nameplate. About six inches of material was stitched to the bottom for added length. There is evidence of significant game use, with many fabric repairs on both shoulders. Also, both shoulders have been cut to allow Lambert more freedom of movement. Other than the above mentioned changes, there appear to be no other alterations of any kind. This is a significant jersey from a Hall of Fame middle linebacker, one of the most ferocious football players of all time. LOA from Grey Flannel Auctions and Mile High Card Company.
