Offered is one of just 15 examples from the infamously challenging 1949 Leaf Football issue to ever grade PSA 9 MINT, with none graded higher from well over 2,500 submissions encompassing the entire 49-card set. Oh, and in case you can't tell by the picture, it features Hall of Fame Philadelphia halfback, Steve Van Buren. Granted, 2 of the other 14 MINT 9 examples encompassing the entire set are also Van Buren copies, but only 4 other Hall of Famers from the whole set have ever realized MINT 9, and we are talking, after all, about one of the earliest and most popular football sets ever produced. Incredibly, perfectly centered, with MINT+ to GEM MINT corners and edges around a MINT+ image against a perfectly saturated, GEM MINT, blazing blue backdrop. If any of the 15 existing MINT 9 examples from this famous football set stand a shot at GEM MINT 10 or at least being considered the finest extant, it would have to be this bad "Big Boy," as a single print dot on Steve's upper arm and some typical roughness along the card's reverse left edge appear to be the only marginally imperfect facets throughout.
