To the date of this composition, precisely 1,100 examples of Al Kaline's 1957 Topps issue have passed through the grading gauntlet at PSA's Newport Beach headquarters, with just 15 superior examples rising above the masses to earn distinction as the finest extant in the MINT 9 class, as none have ever graded higher. MINT corners join handsome MINT+ to GEM MINT chip-free edges around a sharply registered image for the issue on a sufficiently clean surface for the opined grade with MINT centering that microscopically pulls toward the southeast. Flipping over to the reverse, we encounter boldly saturated blue and red ink tones with nary a trace of wax or any other imperfections. A very appealing 1957 Topps example presenting "Mr. Tiger" in the first of his 10 Gold Glove Award winning seasons.
