The only World Heavyweight Champion to win the title by disqualification, Maximillian Adolph Otto Siegfried Schmeling held the title for 2 years before losing to Jack Sharkey in a rematch in 1932. But it was his knockout victory over Joe Louis that propelled Schmeling into the forefront of world history at a time when World War seemed inevitable. A European Heavyweight Champion in 1942, Schmeling was included in the 12-card set manufactured in Spain by the Editorial Bruguera publishing company. While centering favors the bottom horizontal edge, the comic-like artwork is vibrant and colorful. A small print line running through the horizontal center of the card is compensated by four corners that are far superior to the PSA 6 NM/MT designation.
