Harry Houdini (born Erik Weisz and later spelled Ehrich Weiss, 1874-1926) was known as the greatest magician and escape artist of the 20th century. This is his 1902 Ogden's Ltd. Series 1 rookie card (and yes, there were several issues of Houdini cards after this, so it is a true rookie card), issued in England and extremely scarce as a total of 3 have been graded by PSA. This card presents a clear image of the great Houdini in a shackled pose and is captioned "Houdini, "The Handcuff King," with Ogden's advertising for Guinea Gold Cigarettes below. The card is graded PSA 4 VG/EX and exhibits moderate, rounding corners but surprisingly little chipping on the black border for the grade. An amazing find for the non-sports and tobacco card collector.
