The first Topps issue to feature fronts with two player pictures (a large full color portrait and a smaller black and white in-action cutout), the 250-card 1954 set was an immediate success. Card fronts also feature facsimile autographs and powerful single color backgrounds of red, orange, yellow, white, lime green, and powder blue. In addition to an expected line-up of stars and Hall of Famers, this classic set opens and closes with Ted Williams on cards #1 and #250, and also includes the iconic rookie card of Hank Aaron. While most of the stars of this near complete set (248/250, no Banks or Kaline)are VG, this high-powered group is overall VG/EX, with 5% VG or below, 65% VG to VG/EX, 22% EX to EX/MT and 8% NM or better. Also included are 70 extra commons in G/VG condition. Key cards conservatively grade as follows: #1 Williams VG, 10 Robinson VG, 13 Martin VG+, 17 Rizzuto VG/EX, 20 Spahn G, 30 Matthews VG, 32 Snider VG, 36 Wilhelm VG, 37 Ford VG (MC) 45 Ashburn VG, 50 Berra VG/EX, 90 Mays VG, 102 Hodges VG/EX, 128 Aaron VG/EX, 132 Lasorda NM, and 250 Williams EX.
