An appealing option for those looking to acquire a high-grade "Hammer" rookie, the presented specimen on first glance appears to be your average, everyday "8" but on closer inspection reveals some magnificent GEM-grade virtues. The centering clearly favors the left border, however, and despite the fact that there is no tilt, this suggests to me that there must be something very special about this card, something clearly high-end enough to lock it down at the NM/MT 8 level. Both the right corners border on perfection, but both left corners show minor blunting consistent with the overall grade, so the corners, in sum, are clearly sufficient for the grade, just not that special. The edges, likewise, appear to be significantly above grade upon frontal inspection, but the back top and right edges show some typical chipping for the issue, perfectly in line with the PSA-opined grade of NM/MT 8. So then what's so special about this Aaron rookie? I'll tell you. The entire obverse, you see, is so well-printed that I just spent the last five minutes, moving from orange pixel to orange pixel under magnification, looking for something I don't like, and I can with total confidence say that I've never seen an Aaron rookie with a cleaner orange backdrop. An incredibly clean example overall boasting a near perfect print impression, and the sort of card with a glow that grows and grows the more you look at other examples, even in superior grades.
