The greatest Baseball player of the famed dead-ball era, Ty Cobb demonstrates the batting pose that achieved 4192 base hits. A wide stance with the right foot lifting upwards as he strides into the pitch as well a split handed grip on the bat for better control. The PM1 issue still remains largely shrouded in mystery but it has been established that these Ornate-frame Pins date to 1915, the identity of the original issuer and the mode of distribution remain unsolved. Those hobbyists who have chosen to perplex themselves with the excruciating riddle of completing or even collecting this rare issue are well aware that condition problems that seem to be an inevitability when collecting PM1's. The featured keepsake displays a wonderful patina to the ornate leafing surrounding the central image. The image of the great player is prominently pronounced from the light colored background and gives wonderful breadth and contrast to the image. The reverse is clean save for a small spot of light discoloration just below the pin. A tremendous high grade example of this exciting Cobb collectible.
