Presented in this unique lot is a larger-than-life photo of the Sultan of Swat, an 8x10 Type I black and white rendition that captures the Babe with stunning contrast and clarity. It is held in a cardboard mat frame, the back of which reads, in pencil in an unknown hand, "photo made from original glass negative-taken 1933 in League Park, Cleveland, OH." Accompanying the photo is a vintage glove which appears to be of the same make as the one on Ruth's right hand, manufactured by the Horace Partridge Athletic Goods Manufactures of Boston. While most likely not the exact glove worn by the Bambino in this photo, it definitely shows strong game use and is a very intriguing and desirable item in its own right. Offered together, these two items make a great conversation piece and will display nicely in any collector's trophy room.
