The St. Louis Cardinals posted a pedestrian 83-78 record in 2006, edging out the Houston Astros to win the NL Central division. Led by Albert Pujols and Chris Carpenter, Tony LaRussa's squad when on a surprising run, knocking off the San Diego Padres, New York Mets and Detroit Tigers to win the franchise's 10th World Series championship. Former infielder and coach Steve Dillard had signed on to be a roving instructor and the hitting coach for the Swing of the Quad Cities, St. Louis' Single A affiliate, for the 2006 season. Presented is Steve Dillard's championship ring that was given to players on the Cardinals team and coaches throughout the organization. In the center is "St. L" expressed in rubies (approx. 1.33 carats) and surrounded by diamonds (approx. 1.8 carats). "DILLARD" is spelled out, along with an impressive image of the new Busch Stadium on one side and "2006," a Cardinal logo and "Tenth World Series Title" on the other. Inside the ring is stamped "Intergold 10K" (players received 14K rings) and the total weight is approximately 59 grams. Included is a gold-hinged, 10" x 7" x 3 1/4" presentation box designed for optimum display, lined in black felt with a glass lid engraved "St. Louis Cardinals" and "2006 World Champions." A magnetic clamp holds the ring in place. For any St. Louis Cardinals fan, this is the ultimate prize!
