With rookies Fred Lynn and Jim Rice cracking a lineup that was in serious playoff contention the prior year, the 1975 Boston Red Sox captured the American League pennant before losing in 7 games to the Cincinnati Reds in one of the most thrilling World Series matchups in baseball history. Anchoring the Red Sox drive was Carl Yastrzemski, heir apparent in left field to retiring Ted Williams in much the same manner that Mickey Mantle was for Joe DiMaggio in the Big Apple a decade earlier. "Yaz" played 23 seasons in Boston, smashing 452 career home runs and winning the 1967 American League Triple Crown. A significant find from that storybook '75 season, the presented jersey was worn by Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski and features a "1975" team tag above the laundry instruction label in the center of the front tail. Inside the collar is the appropriate McAuliffe Uniform Corp. tag and size 42 team tag. Under the "BOSTON" lettering, Yastrzemski has offered his signature in blue marker while adding, "1975 AL Champion, TC 1967, HOF 1989." Incredible game use is displayed with some light staining and strong fading and fraying of the identifiers. A truly historical piece from the great 1970s! LOA from Mile High Card Company. A final grade of A10 has been assigned by MEARS.
