The American League MVP of 1967, not only would Carl Yastrzemski capture baseball's beloved Triple Crown but also lead the American League in runs and hits as well. While lauded as an exceptional hitter, no one would have predicted that "Yaz" would be the next in line, never having hit more than 20 homers in his six previous seasons while topping out at just 94 runs batted in. Yet Yaz busted out for 44 homers, 121 RBI and a .326 batting average to confirm Red Sox nation's faith that they had indeed found a successor to the great Ted Williams. A feat so special needs a pasteboard to match, and that's exactly what you have in this 1967 Topps card of Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski, one of just 4 to receive PSA's ultimate grade of GEM MINT. There's no guesswork to this one as a perfectly framed image of Yastrzemski is supported by clean colors of grass and sky in the backdrop, making you feel as though you're the one there taking the picture. Each corner resists the urge to expose any flaws while the reverse, a brilliant green canvas whose chip-prone edges often disqualify exceptional cards from reaching the top rung of the grading scale, fail to get the job done here, instead presenting uniformly with no blemishes. A truly spectacular card of a fantastic Hall of Famer at the very peak of his greatness!
