Another opening day had come to Shea Stadium, and once again, the 1967 Mets ended up cellar-dwellers like all but one squad before them in the club's history. But that would soon be changing as a 22-year old rookie named Tom Seaver would anchor the rotation for the next 8 seasons and lead them to a championship in 1969. Not surprisingly, the Mets dropped this game to the Pirates 6-3. PSA authenticated.
