The most dominant football player of his time, and maybe of all-time, Jim Brown abruptly hung up his cleats at age 30 following the 1965 season that saw him rush for a league-leading 1,544 yards and 17 touchdowns. But that wasn't about to stop the Philadelphia Gum Company from issuing one more card of Brown, and the example featured here is one of the best known to exist with only 8 others earning MINT status at PSA and none graded higher. This perfectly centered specimen is an absolute necessity for any collector building a world-class set, offering three of four corners right at the doorstep of GEM MINT status and a central image that is well-focused compared with virtually any other. The chip-prone green reverse usually knocks most '66 Philly cards out of MINT contention but this one pushes through like a champ, delivering with intense color that brings attention to the alluring rough cut that is such a signature trait of the series. It's the key to making your mark on the PSA Set Registry, and with so few examples that come close to matching this one, the time to strike is now!
