I'm not sure what's more shocking; that Sandy Koufax recorded his 2000th career strikeout in this June 29, 1965 game or that he came in to close the game and got the save. At the top of his game as the premier pitcher in all of baseball, Koufax came out of the bullpen to pitch the final inning of an 8-4 victory, striking out two and achieveing the milestone.
