This top-notch specimen from the under-appreciated 1964 Topps series has been graded PSA 9 MINT and is surpassed by just one example out of almost 8,000 graded by PSA. Other than some microscopic touches to two of the corners that keep it from the GEM MINT classification and an extremely minor centering shift toward the right, which probably wouldn't be a dealbreaker for a PSA 10, this card is about as strong as they come. The chip-prone orange reverse manages to sidestep the usual wear that prevents examples from reaching this lofty grade. Going back to the front we see Mantle's right batting stance, well-delivered and perfectly sandwiched between the bright red Yankees lettering and multi-colored nameplate at the bottom edge. In short, this rare beauty is a wonderful cornerstone toward assembling one of the best '64 sets in existence.
