After teasing high-grade card collectors with the chip-prone, wooden borders of the 1962 set, Topps lessened the pain with the deeply colorful and vibrant '63 series, reverting back to white borders while adding a colored edge that encompassed the bottom and almost an inch of each side. Highlighted by the rookie card of Pete Rose, the '63 set became an instant success. Though not as condition sensitive as the '62 series, the '63 set is still tough to assemble in high grade. Offered here is a collector grade set with about 70% of the set evaluated at EX and EX-MT. Overall, the collection rates at 70% EX/EX-MT, 20% VG/EX, and 10% lower. Included are NM but off-center cards of #340 Berra and EX/ EX/MT cards of #115 Yastrzemski, #173 Bombers Best PD, #210 Koufax, #228 Oliva Rookie, #250 Musial, #275 Mathews, #300 Mays, #320 Spahn #345 B. Robinson, #360 Drysdale, #380 Banks, #390 Aaron, #400 F. Robinson PD, #415 Gibson, #490 McCovey, #550 Snider, VG/EX cards #200 Mantle, #540 Clemente, VG cards #120 Maris, #553 Stargell Rookie, #537 Pete Rose Rookie card. (Due to small paper loss on the back of the card the Rose Rookie technically grades VG, though the front of the card has a EX-MT appearance.)
