No longer the up and coming teenage sensation that was tasked with ushering in the newest generation of Yankees dominance when he entered the league in 1951, Mickey Mantle was the face of the franchise and has already achieved success in excess of any die-hard's wildest dreams, and he was still just 26 years old! Entering the 1958 season with back to back American League MVP titles under his bet, Mantle gets larger than life on this superlative 1958 Topps card, one of just 28 on record with a grade of PSA 9 and none graded higher out of almost 6,000 total submissions. At first glance, you can't help but notice the superior centering and bright clean colors, the border white contrasting with the glowing pumpkin orange backdrop and deep midnight blue pigmentation of the Yankees cap. The image of Mantle is amazingly precise, allowing the observer to see every blemish and whisker on his young face. Each corner portrays the textbook definition of MINT condition while both surfaces are virtually spotless when it comes to stray print dots. This is a fantastic example, one of the best, of Mickey Mantle's card from the amazingly colorful and highly sought-after '58 Topps set, sure to raise the stakes for the winning bidder in the PSA Set Registry competition.
