Fresh off of completing his 1956 American League MVP winning Triple Crown season, collectors waited with anticipation for the release of the '57 Topps set and a chance to acquire the newest Mickey Mantle card. And Topps didn't disappoint, foregoing the usual artist's rendering for real live shots of the players, with Mantle in a swinging pose drawing rave reviews from hobby enthusiasts. Mantle would repeat as the American League MVP in 1957 and take the honor again in 1962, the year following his famed home run race with teammate Roger Maris. Offered here is the '57 Topps card of Mickey Mantle, graded PSA 8. Centered just a little toward the left edge with four staunch corners that easily reach the NM/MT or higher level while the reverse is uncommonly strong, sporting a combination of red and blue tints that sharply convey Mantle's history making accomplishments. Overall, an admirable specimen that will feel right at home in a high-grade collection.
