The 1955 Topps series, and specifically the iconic rookie card of Sandy Koufax, is known for having bothersome centering issues and a plague of unsightly stray print on the surface that make high-grade examples difficult. As a result, if a collector was fortunate enough to find a stellar example largely devoid of the common pitfalls, it was locked away and considered off-limits for an autograph. So while Koufax is known to have an eye-pleasing autograph as harmonious as his textbook windup, the overwhelming majority of autograph seekers opted to use less attractive 1955 Topps cards, whether they be off-center, or loaded with stray print, or just beaten down, for autographs. Every once in a while, an autographed 1955 Topps Sandy Koufax rookie card comes available with an overall quality that virtually none can match, both in terms of card strength and signature quality. Signed in deep blue marker with remarkable crispness, the signature of the Dodgers legend earns a perfect 10 for the autograph. But the card itself shines as well, beautifully framed with a problem-free canvas and staunch EX/MT endpoints. A clearly superior specimen for any autographed baseball card collector.
