The design of the 1954 Topps baseball card set is one of the cleanest and most straightforward ever produced. In fact, Sy Berger, the co-designer of the inaugural 1952 Topps set, called it his favorite baseball set the company ever produced. A color photo of the player dominated the card with a small action shot in black and white. The larger picture was usually a mug shot, but the look varied from card to card with the portrait sometimes on the right, sometimes on the left, or even sometimes in the center. The black and white action picture, while much smaller, always overlapped the foreground picture, so the full figured batting stance, swing, or pitching motion was never lost. Offered is a complete set of 250 cards all graded and encapsulated by PSA with a ranking of #11 on the PSA Set Registry and an overall GPA at a robust 7.974. With the following exceptions, every card in the collection has been graded PSA 8: #10 J. Robinson PSA 7, 18 Dropo PSA 9 (pop 5 none higher), 64 Thopmpson PSA 7, 69 Podbielan PSA 7, 72 Ward PSA 7, 75 Haney PSA 6, 102 Hodges PSA 9 (pop 5 none higher), 126 Wade PSA 6, 135 Presko PSA 7, 149 Robertson PSA 7, 160 Kress PSA 7, 169 Hughes PSA 7, 172 Brown PSA 8.5, 228 Hermanski PSA 9, 241 Miller PSA 9 (pop 5 one higher), and 244 Wheat PSA 9.
