From the sleek and uncluttered 1953 Bowman Color release comes this example of card #59, Mickey Mantle. After nearly succumbing to injuries and dejection and hearing a facetious offer from his father to return to Oklahoma to toil in the coal mines, Mickey was emerging as a bona fide superstar at the time of this card's production. The technical assessment is the result of moderate uniform corner wear as well as a few light wrinkles in the upper left, but the image is crisp and clean, providing an intimate look at the "Commerce Comet."
