Advanced collectors often face a dilemma when it comes to acquiring a 1952 Topps Mantle card. Exponential rises in value limit many to a minimal grade of one, but just about every example at that grade level is, well, hideous. Well, we've got a solution for you, as the featured specimen is surprisingly attractive for the grade. While there is some tape mark discoloration at the top edge, the vast majority of the central image offers eye-appeal several grades higher, displaying a deep aqua-blue backdrop and a sharp image of "The Commerce Comet" with his golden bat on shoulder. The edges and endpoints are also in advance of the grade, and even the centering, while mildly toward the southwest, is inoffensive and does not distract from the majesty of the iconic pastebord. If there's a more eye-pleasing example of this legendary card at this grade level, we aren't aware of it.
