Drafted into the Army during the 1952 season, Hall of Famer Willie Mays wasn't around to see his first Topps card at the time of release. He also missed the entire 1953 season and probably would have had over 700 career home runs had he not served in the armed forces. This 1952 Topps card exhibits a centering preference for the southwest corner that necessitates an (OC) qualifier but possesses bold color and crisp focus, with the purple wall behind Mays very detailed in its appearance, and NM/MT to MINT corners. Other than the centering, there is very little to be critical about!
1952 Topps #261 Willie Mays PSA 8 NM/MT (OC)
