The only boxing issue ever produced by Topps, the 96-card Ringside series predates their iconic 1952 Topps baseball set and offers cards that appear more like the Bowman baseball cards of the time period. Featuring boxing greats from several decades, led by Sugar Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano and an extremely difficult short print of Bob Murphy, the 1951 Topps Ringside set is considered by many collectors to be the quintessential boxing issue. The featured collection is #3 on the PSA Set Registry with a rating of 8.94, but with the #2 set at 8.95 and the top set at 8.97, could easily move to the #1 spot with just one or two improvements that are available online at the time of this writing. Thirty of the cards are graded PSA 9, including #43 Robinson, 69 Sullivan and 88 Louis, with 10 cards in the set (including Louis PSA 9 and the rare #49 Murphy SP PSA 8.5) rated as one of one with none higher, and 34 others graded at the highest mark on record. Seven of the cards show more than 10 existing examples that would be an improvement, so it shouldn't take a lot of effort to raise this collection to the top spot should the winning bidder desire it. This collection is being offered in individual lots as well as in its entirety and the method of sale will be the higher of the set price versus the aggregate sum of the individual lots. If sold as a set, included will be a Ringside wax wrapper EX/MT.
