Some knew him as "The Beast", others referred to him as "Double X". Opposing pictures likely remember him as their worst nightmare. James Emory Foxx's career record is brimming with achievements that may never be matched again in today's game. For 12 consecutive seasons, Foxx topped the 30+ home run mark and surpassed 50 home runs twice. He exceeded 100 RBI a total of 13 times and led the National League by surpassing 160 RBI .... three times. Proving that he was not just a prolific long ball hitter, Foxx's .325 batting average ranks him among the top 50 all-time. As amazing as the man himself, this SGC MINT 96 example of Jimmie Foxx from the very difficult 1941 Play Ball set is a masterpiece. This rare issue is finely centered with an outstanding milky white border that circumscribes the pastel themed image. The four corners push the limits of perfection as each show the slightest signs of age except for the bottom right which approaches GEM MINT. The reverse is surprisingly vivid, sporting a well presented player bio. Over 500 have been submitted to SGC and PSA; none have been graded GEM MINT 10. This one is really close.
