While many hobbyists prefer the monotone look of one of the three 1933 Goudey portrait cards of Babe Ruth, a high percentage of vintage collectors are swayed by card #144, a full-body image of "The Sultan of Swat." In addition to the unique pose, the card offers far more color than the others, combining red, brown, green, yellow, blue, and white pigments that please the eye. The featured example is graded SGC 4, showing a barely noticeable preference for the southwest corner with mildly and evenly rounded corners that align with the grade. The reverse is particularly appealing, showing mild age spots that give the piece an added emphasis of character on an impressively bright canvas that houses brilliant green print to announce Ruth's continued dominance over the league. An extremely fine representation, both of one of the hobby's most prized prints and of the grade level assigned.
