Max Schmeling and Babe Ruth, two of the most prominent athletes of the 1930s, were photographed side by side for production of this Bulgaria Sport Photos card, graded VG/EX 4 by BVG. With solid above-grade corners, near-perfect centering and a crisp, clear image, perhaps the clue to the befuddling technical grade lies in the colloquial German scripted on the reverse.
