They certainly love their baseball in St. Louis! In honor of the St. Louis Cardinals' 1926 National League pennant (the first of 19 such championships in the history of the franchise), Hall of Fame first baseman Jim Bottomley was presented with this Illinois Watch Company Abraham Lincoln model pocket watch. Inside the back of the 14K solid gold case is an inscription, "Presented to J. L. Bottomley of the St. Louis Cardinal Baseball Club, National League Champions, by St. Louis Fans October 7, 1926." Down three games to two on that date, the Cardinals rallied to take the final two games and win their first World Series title. The watch runs well and appears to keep good time. From the personal estate of "Sunny Jim" Bottomley.
