Make a list of the most important baseball card issues in history and it won't be long before the 1916 M101-5 Sporting News Joe Jackson card makes its appearance. This blank-backed version is one of only 7 that have ever reached PSA's Newport Beach office for evaluation, making it as incredibly rare as it is popular. Many of the greatest baseball card collections in the world don't include a M101-5 Jackson, so here comes an opportunity of a lifetime! The presented card has been evaluated at VG/EX+ 4.5 and PSA likely chose to invoke the half-point grade as to take a conservative stance due to the magnitude of the issue. Moderately rounded and chipped corners are in line with the VG/EX+ assessment, however the noticeably well-rendered image of "Shoeless Joe" Jackson along with the almost perfect centering arguably could have been enough of a catalyst to send this card into EX territory overall. Both surfaces are predominantly clean, with the glossy obverse showing no definable marks that would detract from the sheer wonder of this amazing specimen. There are no creases, no noticeable paper loss, no major stains; in short, an exceptionally presentable example with far greater visual appeal than the grade typically affords.
