Graded NM/MT+ 92 (8.5) by SGC. The featured card is the one and only example that has been graded NM/MT+ by the New Jersey based grading organization and is surpassed on the SGC Population Report by just a single example. At first inspection it becomes abundantly clear that the offered pasteboard is not that of average means. Extraordinarily bright color and supreme registration are the first components that attract any onlooker to this prized pasteboard. The centering is spot on and is further accentuated as the enthusiast traverses out to the corners with each of the retaining a crispness and freshness most often encountered on collectibles that were manufactured for the latest Topps release not a nearly 100 year old baseball keepsake. The central image is that of magnificent artwork in which its Hall Of Fame subject is imaged as the bold attention commanding figure that he also portrayed during his tenure on the diamond. The steely blue of his Pirate cap stands out as if it was a crown for a prince while the fleshtones are accurate and work well with the abundant shading of the facial area. The reverse is a simple understated preservation of a dark deep black inked biography set against a pristine white landscape. A captivating collectible offered in deserving and unquestioned NM/MT+ condition bordering on MINT condition!
