Considered by experts to be the most difficult card of the storied 1914 Cracker Jack set, easily the most popular caramel card set ever produced, the offered PSA 4 specimen is only one of 9 total that have been graded by PSA, and just one of those grades higher on the PSA pop report. Adding to the mystique as to why this card is so scarce is the fact that the artwork of Pratt depicted on his 1915 card was inexplicably changed to a portrait in the same manner as the extremely rare 1914 issue of Christy Mathewson. At a grade of VG/EX, this card is certainly not without its faults, and while it exhibits moderate corner rounding, a slight centering preference for the right side, and some scattered spotting on both surfaces, the central image possesses excellent registration, deep red color, and virtually none of the discoloration present along the border. But as every Cracker Jack set builder knows, the Del Pratt card is a major find in any condition, and this one rates as one of the 3 or 4 in existence. There are a lot of world-class collectors out there that have been waiting to get their hands on a '14 Pratt for their top-rated sets. Who's gonna step up and lock this one down?
