Up next from the world's finest 1914 Cracker Jack PSA Set Registry is a shockingly immaculate example of "The arm of the A's," the great left-handed twirler, "Gettysburg Eddie" Plank, graded PSA 8 NM/MT. MINT corners join impressive GEM MINT edges to frame an exceptionally well-printed image of one of baseball's most accomplished southpaws, whose 326 career wins place him 3rd all-time among left-handers and 13th all-time among all MLB pitchers. The centering self-evidently favors the west and is perhaps the only convincing non-MINT feature throughout, while both surfaces are entirely free of caramel stains. The printed image itself boasts an elevated precision in the application of its color tints, while the ever-important red backdrop showcases uncommonly clean saturation around the perimeter, where little wisps of red ink are typically found extending into the cream-white borders. Not so here! Save for some microscopic interior flecks of print within the backdrop, the edges of the red print are about as neat and even as could possibly be desired. Compared to his other marquee issues, the presented prize ranks among the top few Eddie Plank collectibles in the entire hobby. To put things into perspective, PSA has graded a total of 53 examples of Eddie's celebrated E93 Standard Caramel issue and 59 examples of the infamous T206, awarding just 2 grades of NM/MT 8 to the former and just one to the latter. The 1914 Cracker Jack issue, on the other hand, reports a total population of just 25, well under half the total number of E93s and T206s on record, with likewise just 2 superior NM/MT 8 specimens reigning over the entire pop report. Now that's rare!
