The most recognized name in all of sportscard collecting is unquestionably that of Honus Wagner, due in large part to the stupefying prices that continue to be realized for his surviving T206 examples. Other keepsakes bearing his name, however, and most importantly his image, continue to be vastly popular with the collecting public, not the least of which is his contribution to the 1914 Cracker Jack release. As a result of direct insertion into packages of the caramel-corn confectionery, many 1914 examples are found with unsightly blemishes and stains, as opposed to the 1915 issue which could be purchased directly from the factory. Finding a Wagner from the 1914 set that is free of this marring can be an excruciatingly difficult task indeed, which is why we, your friends at Mile High, have done the work for you, and are offering this tremendous example that bears the mouth-watering grade of NM 7 as determined by GAI. In addition to the noticeable lack of caramel blotches on the surface and in the creamy white borders, this example displays with a deep bold red background, which is of the utmost importance to any advanced collectors as examples with a faded, washed-out or orange-ish appearance lack the visual appeal that makes this card truly special. The image of the "Flying Dutchman" is centered to near perfection on this exemplar, and offers exacting detail in the all-important facial area. The immortal Hall of Famer's cheeks appear rosy and full of life, and the hue of his lips is equally intoxicating. The impossibly thin paper stock used in the issue's production makes for extreme condition obstacles, yet the offered card exhibits only minor uniform touches to the corners, falling well within the standards for the opined grade. The only other noticeable flaw in the perimeter is a very small disturbance in the bottom border below the "GN" in "WAGNER," yet is so small as to be barely perceptible and is mentioned solely for the sake of accuracy. The reverse is clean and equally free of candy blemishes, and offers a profound sense of closure to this exquisite hobby delicacy. If you desire an absolutely classic baseball card honoring the majestic Honus Wagner, please consider the offered specimen quite carefully, as it comes with our sincere recommendations and is sure to please the lucky winning bidder.
