The story of Addie Joss is one that's all too familiar to those with knowledge of the tragedies in the history of baseball. The young hurler known as "The Human Hairpin" was stricken with tuberculous meningitis in April of 1911 and died that same month at the young age of 31. His accomplishments prior to this, however, earned him a spot in Cooperstown after the Board of Directors passed a special resolution that waived the typical 10-year playing career minimum. The tendered specimen from the heralded T3 Turkey Red production displays with premium clarity both in the central image and in the vividly colored background, creating a scene with maximum visual appeal. The supreme quality of the surface and the light, uniform peripheral wear have resulted in a grade of EX 5 as determined by PSA, and to date, just 3 examples have graded higher.
