Often overlooked amidst the names Cobb, Johnson, and Wagner, "The Gray Eagle" Tris Speaker's accomplishments deserve to be mentioned amongst the game's greatest. The 1912 American League Most Valuable Player and all-time leader in career doubles with an astounding 792, Speaker's .345 lifetime average is 6th best and his 3,514 hits rank #5 all-time; strong numbers that resulted in his Baseball Hall of Fame induction in 1937, the second year of voting. The presented T205 Gold Border card bearing his likeness has been graded NM/MT 8 by PSA and is surpassed by just one other on the PSA population report. The display of striking, picturesque colors provide a level of detail and clarity that is beyond reproach, and the vulnerable gold perimeter has survived nearly untainted with a slight nick in the lower right corner being the only visible sign of age to the naked eye. The top to bottom centering is excellent, and the side to side positioning just mildly favors the right edge. The reverse looks brand-new. An extremely elite collectible of one of baseball's early legends!
