Graded NM/MT 88(8) by SGC. Featured is one of the more alluring and attention-commanding caramel card issues of the "Flying Dutchman" Honus Wagner, an E93 Standard Caramel release offered in stunning, strong NM/MT condition. A fiery red image surrounds the hulking, barrel-chested icon who's adorned in an opaque white home Pirates flannel, following through on one of his powerful throws from shortstop. Legend has it that Wagner would often gobble up not only the ball from his shortstop position but also dirt and pebbles and that quite often not only would the first baseman receive the ball but the infield shrapnel as well! The borders, although ever slightly askew to the right, frame this famed pasteboard to near perfection with strong NM/MT or better edges surrounding the perimeter, and a bone-white presentation drawing immense distinction from the aforementioned boldly red-hued background. The surface is a regal smooth field that offers the collector a prideful and unblemished palate upon which to view this treasure. Each of the four corners stand upon the gates of entry into a higher evaluated assessment with precise 90 degree angles showing no hint of wear. The reverse is a splendid listing of all of the subjects from within the issue appearing in a muted tone of brown set against a sullen creamy white stock that lends credence to its fact of being over 100 years old. A startling and altogether captivating offering of a front line HOF subject from an exceptionally attractive and important issue, can it get better than this?
