Reverse the image and replace the orange backdrop with a pastel canvas and this 1910-11 Sporting Life M116 card of Hans (Honus) Wagner looks almost identical to the famed T206 issue that requires an investment of at least a million dollars for even the poorest of examples. Similar to Ty Cobb's exploits in the American League, "The Flying Dutchman" was taking top batting honors virtually every season in the senior circuit, winning six batting titles over the 7 seasons leading up to the 1910 campaign and averaging 51 stolen bases over the same period of time. While graded 7.5 NM+, the only one on record at SGC with just 3 graded higher, the edges appear to qualify for NM/MT consideration while the reverse is immaculate and the color-tinted obverse is as bold as can possibly be found on the finest Sporting Life examples extant. Unlike most examples from the series, which is known for wildly inconsistent centering, this one largely hits the mark, showing just a slight preference for the left edge that still falls well within the specifications for NM/MT to even NM/MT+ consideration. This issue is certainly not as prestigious as his T206 card (then again, nothing is), this offering is certainly a world-class specimen in absolute elite condition!
