Of all the great tobacco issues from the late 19th and early 20th Century, none surpass the T204 Ramly Cigarettes series for overall aesthetics. While many of the great baseball immortals do not appear in the Ramly set, the one true "ace in the hole" for the T204 set is one of baseball's greatest all-time aces, Walter Johnson. Since no other cards dedicated to Johnson pre-date the T204 with any certainty, his Ramly issue is considered to be his premier appearance on pasteboard, and thus carries with it the reputation for being one of the most elusive rookie cards ever produced. The presented example, graded PSA 4, offers an actual black and white photo image of "The Big Train" surrounded by an ornate gold border that is primarily intact save for the usual chipping around the perimeter. Each corner is grade-appropriate while both surfaces are impressive with just the usual encumbrances present. This is an extremely important example of an early 20th Century classic that will leap to the forefront of any vintage collection.
