Roger Bresnahan's 1907-09 Novelty Cutlery Postcard has to be one of the most appealing player postcards every produced! It features an ornately designed black and white border around an artistically enhanced, full-bodied, photographic image of the Hall of Fame backstop showing off his recently developed protective shin guards, which he first put into action in the years encompassing the production of the Novelty Cutlery set, issued by a knife company hailing out of Canton, Ohio. The offered specimen has been deemed SGC 50 VG/EX 4 and reports just 1 like it and 1 higher at SGC, with none like it and just 1 higher at PSA. Noticeably well-contrasted for the issue, with VG/EX corners between sharp NM edges around a VG/EX obverse that shows a few light fingerprints and a predominantly clean but also VG/EX reverse, which shows some very minor wrinkling near the lower corners. An irresistible century-old issue showcasing one of the game's most recent developments.
