Although some confusion exists regarding the production of the Dietsche postcard set, it is widely believed that they were issued as a commemorative for the 1907 World Series, and then during the Fall Classic the subsequent two years. The Standard Catalog checklists the 1907 series as having 16 cards, and 13 of those are present here (plus one duplicate), missing only the scarce Ty Cobb Fielding example and Hughie Jennings. 11 of these desirable cards have been graded, with the optimal key card, Ty Cobb batting, presented in an admirable PSA 5 EX holder. Other graded cards include a PSA 6 EX/MT example of Rossman, PSA 5 EX copies of Donovan, Crawford, Payne, Schmidt, Jones, Killian, and Mullin, SGC 60 EX 5 examples of Siever and Schaefer and another Payne graded SGC 50 VG/EX 4. Ungraded are O'Leary, Coughlin and Downs (all VG or lesser). An additional 7 postcards from the 1908 series are also included, with Hughie Jennings in an SGC 20 FAIR 1.5 holder, along with ungraded exemplars of Beckendorf, Bush, McIntyre, Moriarty, Schmidt, and Willett (the only card in the group with writing on the reverse) all in VG or lesser condition. These desirable collectibles are not often seen in near complete set form, and with the important Cobb specimen in PSA 5 EX condition, this lot should see quite a bit of action.
