Issued as part of the marvelous N142 Honest Duke cabinet series comes the angelic image of the tragic figure, Ed Delehanty. At the end of the 19th century many organizations produced cabinet cards as an attempt to attract business, a calling card of sorts. Duke issued this marvelous series of which the offered Delehanty is just one of four Baseball players to be included in the oversized tobacco premiums. Posing in emblazoned full uniform in the Philadelphia ball clubs ensemble, Delehanty is shown with a delightful studio persona; the image portion of the scarce collectible is in stunning NM/MT condition. The mount features the Honest brand name as well as E.J. Delehanty in the middle and New York in the lower right corner. The four corners show a minimal and highly expected amount of clean wear while the left edge has a small 1/2" wrinkle running horizontally on the mount only, as well there is a exceptionally small scratch to the mount on the upper right side. The reverse is splendid an has come through unscathed save for a small trace of three initials at the very top (jcm) most likely in pencil. A sincerely significant collectible of utmost importance as well as rarity offered in Excellent condition.
