If not for a surface wrinkle on the left side above the trees, this 130+ year old beauty would grade significantly higher. Moderate wear on the corners has not victimized this classic specimen as they still appear to the naked eye to have kept their sharp angle. The backdrop has not exhibited any major darkening over time and the colors are particularly bold given the crudity of the printing process at the time. Overall, this 19th century N284 has stood up well over time. Ferguson was an up and coming star pitcher for the Philadelphia Quakers, having won 99 games in only 4 seasons before typhoid fever claimed his life at the age of 25.
