Rarely found online, at card shows, or in auctions these days, the 1887 N184 W.S. Kimball Champions issue illustrates a level of refinement far ahead of its time. The featured card is absolutely pristine for its age, a PSA 7 specimen of E.A. Burch that is one of three to grade NM with only 2 graded higher. Minor wear along the edges can be seen under magnification but the endpoints have retained a sharpness in excess of the grade. The central image is colorful and well-focused and ably captures the spirit of 19th-century baseball. Whether it's for a high-grade type collection or just because it's a really cool looking card, this one aims to please.
