One key attraction to the MHCC October Auction was the breakup of the #4 PSA Set Registry ranked 1967 Topps baseball. which brought in a cumulative total of $170,133 behind record-shattering prices for #150 Mickey Mantle PSA 9 MINT at $14,551, #30 Al Kaline PSA 10 GEM MINT at $13,021, #38 Bob Johnson PSA 10 GEM MINT at $3,983, #145 Larry Brown PSA 10 GEM MINT at $3,241, #503 Dodgers Team PSA 10 GEM MINT at $5,224 and 1967 Topps #570 Maury Wills PSA 10 GEM MINT at $6,072.

A spectacular T206 Eddie Plank SGC 40 VG 3 led the list of amazing sports cards in this auction and brought in the hefty sum of $65,362, with other key cards including a 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle PSA 4.5 VG/EX+ that sold for $44,504, over $3,000 above the previous sales record, 1909-11 T206 Ty Cobb Bat on Shoulder PSA 7 NM that sold for $26,016, a rare 1928 Sociedade Industrial #100 Ruth/Gehrig SGC 70 EX+ 5.5 that battled throughout the night and landed at $16,043, 1933 Goudey #92 Lou Gehrig PSA 8 NM/MT that hammered at $44,128, 1950 Bowman #22 Jackie Robinson PSA 8 NM/MT that shattered the record by nearly 30% with a winning bid of $13,003, 1970 Topps #600 Willie Mays PSA 10 GEM MINT that destroyed the previous record of $6,809 in 2015 with a winning bid $34,045, 1956 Topps #30 Jackie Robinson Grey Back PSA 9 MINT that closed at $14,480, 1956 Topps #33 Roberto Clemente PSA 9 MINT bringing down $21,726, 1956 Topps #135 Mickey Mantle Gray Back PSA 8 NM/MT that sold for $7,618, 1959 Morrell Meats Sandy Koufax PSA 7.5 NM+ that finished at an astonishing $25,172, 1966 Topps #50 Mickey Mantle SGC 9.5 MINT+ that hammered for $19,216, and 1959 Bazooka Jim Brown Hand Cut PSA 5 EX that went back and forth between bidders before finishing at $7,448. Rookie cards continued to be hot with a 1936 National Chicle Joe DiMaggio Slams It PSA 8 NM/MT bringing in $8,467, 1948 Leaf #8 Satchel Paige PSA 1 PR doubling the previous record price at $7,348, 1951 Bowman #6 Don Newcombe PSA 10 GEM MINT selling for $10,233, 1959 Topps #514 Bob Gibson PSA 9 MINT closing at $11,641, 1975 Topps #620 Gary Carter PSA 10 GEM MINT that found a new home at $8,179, 2003 SP Authentic #148 LeBron James Autographed PSA 10 GEM MINT posting a new record price at $17,872 and 1958-59 Topps #66 Bobby Hull SGC 8 NM/MT that received a record-shattering $52,332.

Autograph seekers turned out in heavy numbers for the opportunity to bid on the expansive selection of elite and unique items with prices realized that included a spectacular Babe Ruth Single-Signed Baseball that closed to strong bidding at $40,336, 1939 All Star Game Multi-Signed OAL (Harridge) Ball with (23) Signatures Featuring Gehrig, DiMaggio, Foxx, Ott Etc. that sold for $8,745 and 1958 Topps Baseball Autographed Near-Complete Set of (442/494) All PSA/DNA Encapsulated that sold for $11,541. A 1940 Play Ball #168 Honus Wagner PSA/DNA Authentic sold for $4,873 while an Amazing Lolly Hopkins Autograph Book Featuring Wagner, Traynor, Cy Young, Hartnett, Ott, Klem, Paul Waner, Etc. fetched $4,429. Game-used and memorabilia collectors joined the fray with some surprising results; a 1969-70 Reggie Jackson Oakland A's Game Worn Green Mist Vest Style Flannel Jersey selling for $13,731, 1973 Bob Griese World Champion Miami Dolphins Game-Used Helmet selling for $3,819, 1985 Walter Payton Chicago Bears Game-Used Road Jersey hammering at $5,707, 2011 Adrian Peterson Minnesota Vikings Game-Used Jersey From 10/16 Game at Chicago with Team COA that sold for $2,365 and a 1982 St. Louis Cardinals World Series Championship Ring Belonging to Orlando Sanchez that finished at $7,950.

If you were after some top-notch sets, you had some spirited competition as a 1933 Goudey Complete Set Mostly Graded went for $11,156, 1950 Bowman Complete Set Completely Graded Nearly All SGC Graded sold for $7,950, 1953 Topps Near Complete Set (267/274) with Mantle and Paige topped $4,615, 1958 Topps Baseball Near Complete Set (489/494) brought in $8,467, 1961 Fleer Baseball Complete Set #9 on PSA Set Registry sold for $5,586, 1959 Topps Football Complete Set #4 on PSA Set Registry 9.125 GPA exceeded expectations with a winning mark of $30,718 and a 1960 Topps Football Complete Set #6 Current Finest on PSA Set Registry at $8,192.
