Mile High Card Company October 2015 Auction Led by 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 8, 1951 Bowman Mantle RC PSA 8 and #3 Ranked 1953 Topps Baseball Set with Mantle PSA 8


Centennial, CO.- Gearing up for their strongest event of the year, the Mile High Card Company Fall auction begins on Sept. 28th and ends October 15th, headlined by a quartet of world-class cards: an incredible 1952 Topps #311 Mantle PSA 8, 1951 Bowman #253 Mickey Mantle rookie card PSA 8, 1953-Stahl-Meyer Mantle PSA 7, part of the #1 PSA Set Registry ranked 1953 Stahl-Meyer collection with an 8.88 GPA and a 1953 Topps #82 Mantle PSA 8 from the #3 1953 Topps set, which carries an 8.41 GPA. Both the 1953 Stahl-Meyer and 1953 Topps set, along with the #1 PSA rated 1937 O-Pee-Chee baseball set at an astounding 9.13 GPA and the #1 ranked 1950 Drake’s set at a 9.18 GPA, will be offered as complete sets as well as individual lots, selling for whichever is higher.

Each of these sets includes elite examples that have not been offered to the general public for years if not decades. The 1953 Topps set features PSA 9 MINT cards of #27 Roy Campanella, 37 Eddie Mathews, 76 Pee Wee Reese, 86 Billy Martin and 229 Satchel Paige, the 1937 OPC collection has PSA 8 cards of Joe DiMaggio, Bob Feller and Jimmie Foxx in addition to nine of the eleven existing PSA 9 MINT cards from the set, the ’53 Stahl-Meyer set offers four of the five existing PSA 9 MINT specimens and the 1950 Drake’s set features a PSA 9 example of Duke Snider, one of only two MINT cards in the entire series.

Of course, MHCC continues to be the industry leader for 1952 Topps collectors, serving up an unbelievable selection of stars and high-numbered cards that include PSA 9 MINT examples of #312 Jackie Robinson, #314 Roy Campanella, #37 Duke Snider, #333 Pee Wee Reese, #392 Hoyt Wilhelm and #36 Gil Hodges in addition to stunning PSA 8 cards of #407 Eddie Mathews, #191 Yogi Berra, #49 Johnny Sain (Page Bio), #48 Joe Page (Sain Bio), #11 Phil Rizzuto, #400 Bill Dickey, and the always elusive #80 Herman Wehmeier. Other amazing items include a 1911 T205 Hoblitzel (No Stats) EX/NM, 1915 Cracker Jack #30 Ty Cobb NM/MT+, 1933 Goudey #149 Babe Ruth PSA 8, an assortment of unopened baseball wax packs from the 1950’s-1960s, a bevy of important rookie cards that include PSA 9 MINT examples of 1968 Topps #177 Nolan Ryan, 1968 Topps #247 Johnny Bench, 1986 Fleer #57 Michael Jordan and 1979 O-Pee-Chee #18 Wayne Gretzky, with PSA 8 cards of 1939 Play Ball #92 Ted Williams, 1954 Topps #128 Hank Aaron, 1955 Topps #164 Roberto Clemente, 1963 Topps #537 Pete Rose and 1961 Fleer #8 Wilt Chamberlain, a 1971 Topps Baseball Complete Set #5 on PSA Set Registry with a 8.27 Set Rating and a 1923 V145-1 Paterson #25 Bert Corbeau hockey card, one of approximately 10 known to exist.

MHCC’s July auction delivered a large selection of early 20th Century tobacco cards and that continues into the October auction as 140 T206 cards that include Cobb, Mathewson, C. Young, W. Johnson and various rare backs will be sold, alongside a complete 1912 T202 Hassan Triple Folder Complete Set with PSA graded cards. Memorabilia and autograph collectors will also be intrigued at the eclectic assortment of items up for sale, including a 1960s Hank Aaron game-used batting helmet, Roberto Clemente signed check, Babe Ruth autographed baseball, Payton Manning Indianapolis Colts rookie season game-used helmet and an exceptionally scarce early 1930s Reach Executioner Leather Football Helmet, among other great items.
