Considered by many historians to be the greatest team in baseball history, the 1927 Yankees breezed to a 110-44 record and swept Pie Traynor's Pittsburgh Pirates in four straight games. The team was such an offensive juggernaut that they scored 10 or more runs in a game 26 times (winning all but one) while holding their opponent to one run or less 29 times. Of course, the star of the team was none other than Babe Ruth, whose record shattering 60 home runs, 165 RBI and .356 batting average had him in contention for a Triple Crown. Mile High Card Company has had the privilege of offering many Babe Ruth signed baseballs over the years, some barely legible and others that were among the finest in existence. The featured ball falls into the latter, an Official American League (Barnard) sphere with a clean, sharp signature of "The Bambino" resting dead-center across the sweet spot in bold steel-tip fountain pen ink. On the slightly worn south panel under the Ruth signature is a notation that is hard to read but is confirmed by JSA to say "1927," the year of the famous "Murderer's Row." Both the condition of the 90-year old sphere and the signature of Ruth are absolutely superior to the vast majority of Ruth signed baseballs in existence, specifically on the deeply stamped Reach label that ironically describes the ball to advanced collectors as "The Sign of Quality." A true centerpiece of any collection! Full LOA from JSA.
