The 1999 Leaf Certified Gridiron Gear set consists of 72 cards featuring game-used jersey patches of NFL stars, and each card was serial numbered to 300 on the card backs. That's pretty special when you think about the multitude of jersey cards available and the mass production of cards in the modern market. However, what you are viewing here is not just a run-of-the-mill '99 Leaf Certified Gridiron Gear set. This particular set was created by Donruss Playoff, a Leaf affiliate, for a specific charity auction event, with each card serial numbered 1/1! Each card in this special compilation, with the exception of Thurman Thomas and Emmitt Smith, features the NFL logo taken directly from the jersey, as opposed to a random swatch from the shirt. The checklist is the same, meaning you, as the lucky winning bidder, will be receiving patches with NFL logos from game-used jerseys once worn by John Elway, Dan Marino, Barry Sanders, Brett Favre, Michael Irvin, Joe Montana, Steve Young, Payton Manning, and a plethora of other stars and Hall of Famers. And as each card is a 1/1, you are guaranteed 72 unique cards that were never distributed as inserts in packs. Cards are in overall MINT condition with a few exhibiting minor chipping from the factory cutting process.
