Confounding and altogether rare, that is exactly what was known of 1968 Topps All Star Plaks before Mile High Card Company made a stellar and impressive find of these interestingly and confusing Topps keepsakes. Issued (or possibly not issued) in 1968, these plastic statues or busts were one of the more puzzling in a long line of obscure Topps issued between the late 1950's and the early 1960's. In the find there were five Plaks that although referenced and check-listed through their appearance on the cardboard checklists found within the unopened packs never materialized and therefore were thought to have never been issued. Those five Plaks that were thought to have never been issued were Hank Aaron, Frank Robinson, Don Drysdale, Gary Peters and Willie Mays, that is until know. Mile High Card Company is pleased to offer a previously and possibly unique 1968 Topps All Star Plak in complete sprue form featuring Frank Howard, Rusty Staub and believe it or not Willie Mays. The formerly unknown Plak turned up at the National Sports Collectors Convention in Baltimore and was consigned to MHCC as a direct result of the famous find. The Plak in original as issued complete sprue form was recently obtained from a former Topps executive who worked at the company when the Plaks were issued. Offered in astounding and impressive NM or better condition with a crack in Frank Howards glasses which is exceptionally common. Does that mean that the other four (Aaron, F. Robinson, Peters and Drysdale) exist? I assume that the likelihood surely increases that they in fact do exist. A tremendously rare item offered in stunning condition.
Exceedingly Rare and Possibly Unique 1968 Topps Plak Featuring a Previously Unknown Willie Mays along with Staub and Howard in Original "Sprue" Form
